What is Green Village Philadelphia?
Green Village Philadelphia (GVP) is a 501(c)(3) organization founded by a coalition of local business owners, local food systems pioneers, socially responsible investment specialists, sustainable design professionals, and business development experts.
In 2005, GVP began as an idea to create a green business marketplace as part of a vibrant model of sustainable urban renewal and revitalization. The green marketplace concept was responding to the need for sustainable urban development that would enable small business owners to benefit from clustering green goods and services, and sharing green technology and design infrastructure. GVP leadership recognized that fostering the development of economically, environmentally, and socially sustainable businesses was one of the most effective ways to create lasting positive changes.
Today Green Village Philadelphia is working to educate entrepreneurs and early-stage companies with the goal of helping them access the resources they need to achieve success. In order to achieve this, GVP is opening the Greenhouse Business Incubator in the fall of 2011.
